Aero India kicks off on Monday; to showcase India’s growing aerospace capabilities India’s biennial aerospace exhibition Aero-India will begin on Monday with the aim of projecting the country as a key hub for manufacturing of military aircraft, equipment and avionics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the five-day exhibition at the Yalahanka Air Force station complex on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Officials said 809 defence companies and delegates from 98 countries are participating at Aero-India, billed as Asia’s biggest aerospace exhibition. 2. Two SC judges to take oath on Monday Two new judges -- Justices Rajesh Bindal and Aravind Kumar -- will be administered oath of office by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on Monday morning. Before being elevated as judges of the apex court, Justice Bindal was the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court while Justice Kumar was the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. Once they take oath, the top court will achieve its full strength of 34 judges, including the Chief Justice of India, after a gap of nine months. 3. Women Premier League auction | Smriti, Harman, Shafali set to cross ₹1-crore mark Prolific batters Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur and teen sensation Shafali Verma are expected to spark bidding wars when they go under the hammer during the inaugural Women’s Premier League auction, here on Monday. Among the overseas names, Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, Elysse Perry, Nat Sciver, Megan Schutt and Deandra Dottin are some of the big names expected to enjoy a big pay day. 4. Mallikarjun Kharge calls Opposition meeting on Feb 13 to chalk out floor strategy Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has called a meeting of “like-minded” opposition parties on Monday. The meeting will be held at his office at Parliament before the start of the business of Rajya Sabha. The meeting is believed to be called to chalk out the strategy of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha. 5. Tripura assembly polls: Border with Bangladesh, inter-state boundaries to be sealed from Monday In a bid to ensure free and fair assembly elections in Tripura, the international border with Bangladesh and inter-state boundaries will be sealed from Monday, a senior poll official. Elections to the 60-member assembly of the northeastern state will be held on February 16. 6. G20: MeitY to host Digital Economy Working Group meeting in Lucknow As part of India’s G20 presidency, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will organise the first Digital Economy Working Group meeting here from February 13-15, officials said on Sunday. Workshops, discussions, and experiences, including side events on themes that complement the overall DEWG agenda, will be held as part of the three-day event, it said. 7. Nepal describes Indian foreign secretary’s visit as regular exchange between friendly neighbours Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra’s two-day official visit to Nepal beginning on Monday is continuation of the regular exchange between the two friendly neighbours, Nepal’s foreign ministry said on Sunday. Kwatra is visiting Nepal at the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal. His visit to Nepal is aimed at advancing overall cooperation between the two countries. 8. Anurag Thakur to tour Mumbai South Central LS seat on Monday to shore up BJP fortunes Senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur will visit Mumbai on Monday to shore up the BJP’s fortunes in Mumbai South Central Lok Sabha seat, currently held by Rahul Shewale of the Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde faction. 9. US delegation to Aero India-2023 one of the biggest ever: US Ambassador United States Chargé d’Affaires Ambassador to India Elizabeth Jones on Sunday said her country’s delegation to Aero India-2023 is one of the biggest ever in the premier aviation exhibition’s history, and insisted that India and the US are crucial partners in many ways to ensure a free, open and resilient Indo-Pacific region where democracies can thrive. 10. G20 Agriculture Deputies’ first meeting to be held from Feb 13-15 in Indore The first meeting of Agriculture Deputies under India’s G20 presidency is scheduled to be held from February 13 -15 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The three-day event is expected to be attended by around a hundred delegates from G20 member countries, guest countries and international organizations, the agriculture ministry said in a statement. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the event. 11. Women SHGs to chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ in front of Maha DY CM Fadnavis’ Nagpur office on Feb 13 Members of women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will chant the Hanuman Chalisa in front of the office of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Nagpur city on Monday to draw his attention to their demands. The city police on Sunday enhanced the security at the office of Fadnavis, who represents the Nagpur south-west Assembly constituency, in view of the protest call given on Sunday. 12.
