1. India-China troops clash | Congress seeks discussion on border issue in Parliament Indian and Chinese soldiers suffered “minor injuries” after they were engaged in a face-off along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, the Army said on Monday evening. The Congress hit out at the Centre over the India-China troops clash along the LAC in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh and said the government needs to take the nation into confidence by discussing the issue in Parliament. The issue is likely to rock the Parliament on Tuesday with several Congress leaders set to move adjournment notices in both Houses for discussing the issue. 2. Owaisi to move adjournment motion in Parliament over Indian, Chinese soldiers clash at LAC Alleging that the Central government kept the country in the dark over the incident of Indian and Chinese troops clashing along the Line of Actual Control, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said he will be giving an adjournment motion on the issue in Parliament on December 13. In a series of tweets, the Hyderabad MP further accused that the “weak political leadership” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has led to “this humiliation against China”. 3. PM Modi to address programme commemorating Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a programme commemorating Sri Aurobindo’s 150th birth anniversary via video conferencing, and release a commemorative coin and postal stamp in the honour of the spiritual leader. Sri Aurobindo, born on August 15 August 1872, was a visionary who made lasting contributions to India’s freedom struggle. 4. EAM Jaishankar to visit New York to attend events of India’s UNSC Presidency External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will begin a three-day visit to New York on Tuesday to preside over two signature events of India’s ongoing Presidency of the UN Security Council. The high-level ministerial open debate on the theme “New Orientation for Reformed Multilateralism” will take place on December 14 while a briefing on ‘Global Approach to Counter Terrorism -- Challenges and Way Forward’ will be held on December 15, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). 5. Navy Chief Admiral Kumar begins 4-day Sri Lanka visit on Tuesday Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will begin a four-day visit to Sri Lanka on Tuesday with an aim to bolster overall bilateral maritime cooperation amid concerns in India over China’s persistent attempts to expand influence over the island nation. The visit comes nearly four months after the docking of a Chinese spy ship at Sri Lanka’s Hambantota port triggered a diplomatic row between New Delhi and Colombo. 6. Short but stormy session awaits Bihar assembly from Tuesday Gloves are off as the ruling ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in Bihar and the opposition BJP gear up for the winter session of the assembly, beginning Tuesday, which, though short, is expected to be stormy nevertheless. The opposition party, mortified since its unceremonious loss of power after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar junked the NDA, is emboldened by its recent victory in the Kurhani assembly by-poll and determined to put the government on the mat during the five-day session which comes to a close on December 19. 7. Rains likely over TN, schools in some districts closed Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu received rain on Monday with the IMD forecasting more rainfall till December 15 owing to a cyclonic circulation and low pressure area likely to form in the Bay of Bengal around December 13. Schools in certain areas including in Tiruvallur and Uthukottai Taluks besides Kancheepuram district declared a holiday on Monday based on the forecast. 10.
