Meghalaya-Assam boundary violence: ‘non-cooperation movement’ organised Different organisations in Meghalaya have announced a “non-cooperation movement” on Friday across the five hill districts. Six people were killed and several others injured in a firing incident on the Assam-Meghalaya boundary early on November 22 morning. An Assam Forest guard along with five villagers died in the incident. 2. Mehrauli murder case | Police recover knives, saw, blades from Aftab’s home Delhi Police has seized five knives from the flat of Mehrauli murder accused Aftab Poonawala, who underwent a marathon polygraph test of nearly eight hours on Thursday at the Forensic Science Laboratory. FSL, Rohini Director Deepa Verma said if required the accused can be called again on Friday. 3. Satyendar Kumar Jain plea hearing continues Jailed Aam Aadmi Party minister Satyendar Kumar Jain on Thursday told a Delhi court that “we’re not a country where we are told how to follow a religion”. The court heard the arguments and reserved its order on Jain’s application for Friday. 4. Centre to launch month-long campaign against gender-based violence The Centre is set to roll out a nationwide campaign on Friday to sensitise women, especially in rural areas, about gender-based violence and make them aware of various institutional mechanism available to help them. 5. PM to address closing ceremony of 400th birth anniversary celebrations of Lachit Barphukan Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the closing ceremony of year-long celebrations of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Barphukan, the 17th century general of the army of Ahom Kingdom in Assam who defeated the Mughals. 6. India vs NZ first ODI | Williamson wins toss, opts to bowl; Arshdeep, Umran make debuts New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl against India in the first One-Day International, here on Friday. India have handed debuts to Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik and are fielding both Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. 11. Seven Indian boxers enter finals at Youth World Championships Youth Asian champions Vanshaj and Vishwanath Suresh marched into the summit clash along with Ashish to maintain all-win record for India in the men’s semifinals, whereas Kirti (+81kg), Bhawna Sharma (48kg), Devika Ghorpade (52kg) and Ravina (63kg) advanced to the finals in the women’s section. Bhawna and Devika will fight for gold on Friday along with three male boxers while others will play their finals on Saturday. 12.
