Amazon plans to lay off 10,000 people starting this week Amazon.com Inc is planning to lay off about 10,000 people in corporate and technology jobs starting as soon as this week, the New York Times reported on November 14, 2022, citing people with knowledge of the matter. Amazon is the latest U.S. company to make deep cuts to its employee base to brace for a potential economic downturn. 2. Post-SC order, Navlakha yet to be put under house arrest Jailed human rights activist Gautam Navlakha, who was last week allowed to be placed under house arrest for a month by the Supreme Court owing to his medical condition, is yet to walk out of Navi Mumbai’s Taloja prison, where he is lodged in connection with the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, as formalities for his release are still under process. 3. Australian PM takes ‘goodwill’ into meeting with China’s Xi Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on Monday he will soon meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first face-to-face talks between the nations’ leaders in five years. Albanese said he would meet Xi on Tuesday on the Indonesian island of Bali on the sidelines of the G-20 summit. 8. KCR to launch 8 new medical colleges on Tuesday Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the commencement of classes in the eight newly-established state government medical colleges on Tuesday. A press release from Rao’s office said the medical colleges will be launched online from Pragathi Bhavan, his official residence here. 9. CPI(M) to lead massive protest march to Raj Bhavan in Kerala The ruling CPI(M) in Kerala that is at loggerheads with Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday said the party would take out a march in protest against him on November 15. 10.
