India on Sunday beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs to secure its spot in the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Menâs Twenty20 World Cup in Australia. India also topped its group in the Super 12 stage of the tournament, and will now play England in Adelaide on Thursday. Led by Captain Rohit Sharma, India set a target of 186 for Zimbabwe. Suryakumar Yadavâs 25-ball unbeaten 61 stood out, and he was awarded Player of the match. Coach Rahul Dravid called him the âNo. 1 T20 player in the worldâ for his exceptional knock during the match. Zimbabwe wilted under pressure and was bowled out for 115 in 17.2 overs. With the win, India continued to hold its advantage in head-to-head comparison in international T20s against Zimbabwe. Before Sundayâs match, India had won five out of the seven matches T20Is it played against Zimbabwe. Indiaâs performance in the tournament so far is a significant improvement from the 2021 edition of the Menâs T20 World Cup that was played in UAE and Oman. India was knocked out at the group stage after it failed to win important matches and finished third on the points table. New Zealand and Pakistan had advanced to semifinals, while Australia eventually beat New Zealand to win the tournament. Individual players, including Virat Kohli, also appear to be shining in this yearâs tournament after a period of struggle. Kohli, along with K.L. Rahul, added an important 60 for the second wicket during Indiaâs innings against Zimbabwe. Kohli and Suryakumar also finished as the top two run-scorers of the super 12 stage. Indiaâs Arshdeep Singh took 10 wickets during the group stage matches â second most behind South Africaâs Anrich Nortje. Was this newsletter forwarded to you?
