Bypolls are being held in Andheri East in Maharashtra; Mokama and Gopalganj in Bihar; Adampur in Haryana; Munogode in Telangana; Gola Gokrannath in Uttar Pradesh and Dhamnagar in Odisha. 2. ED summons Hemant Soren in money laundering case The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren for recording his statement in connection with an illegal mining case on Thursday. The agency has asked Mr. Soren to appear before the investigating team in Ranchi. 3. SC asks Centre why reasons for security clearance denial can’t be disclosed to MediaOne channel The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Centre what the reasons were for denial of security clearance to Malayalam news channel ‘MediaOne’ and why those reasons cannot be disclosed to them. The top court said the essence of court proceedings was that anything relied upon by one party should be disclosed to the opposite party. The Bench has Additional Solicitor General K M Nataraj to seek instructions on its queries and come prepared on Thursday. 4. President Droupadi Murmu visits Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim On Thursday, the President will pay her respects at the Kohima War Cemetery and visit Kigwema, one of the oldest villages inhabited by people of the Angami tribe, located about 15 km from the state capital. She will interact with the village council members there and also members of self-help groups. Murmu, on the same day, will grace the 17th convocation of the Mizoram University in Aizawl and inaugurate various education-related projects in the state. 5. Nirmala Sitharaman to launch 6th round of commercial coal mines auction today Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will launch the sixth round of commercial coal mines auction today at an event in New Delhi. The coal mines to be auctioned are fully-explored and partially-explored coking and non-coking mines, the coal ministry said in a statement. 6. RBI’s rate-setting panel meeting today The central bank has called a special meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on November 3, to prepare its report on missing inflation targets to the government. The six-member rate-setting panel is headed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das. The meeting will be held to formulate a reply which will detail the circumstances that led to missing the inflation target and the corrective measures it plans to undertake. 7. ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships, Jordan Two Indian boxers -- Savita (50kg) and Kapil (86kg) -- will be in action on Thursday in the round of 16.
