The CBI has issued Look-Out Circulars against eight people who have been arraigned in the case that alleges irregularities in the Delhi governmentâs now-withdrawn excise policy committed by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and others. LoCs are opened by law enforcement agencies and banks to either prevent a person of interest from leaving the country or remain informed about the personâs movement. In the Delhi excise policy case, the FIR alleges that there were irregularities while modifying the excise policy. While 15 accused have been named by the CBI in the FIR, the role of several government servants and private persons is under the scanner. The CBI has clarified that no LOC has been issued against the main accused Deputy CM Manish Sisodia or any of the public servants named in the case so far. Mr. Sisodia, however, attacked the BJP-led Central government yesterday, claiming that the CBI had issued a LOC against him. He had earlier alleged that the searches at his residence were part of a âscriptâ to restrict the Aam Aadmi Party and CM Arvind Kejriwalâs political advance across the country after their electoral conquest of Punjab. As the CBI probes the charges of corruption in the implementation of the Excise Policy 2021-22, the merits of the case remain a subject matter of investigation, but hardly anyone expects the CBI to be impartial, says The Hindu editorial. âThe BJP has been successful in putting its opponents on the defensive through CBI and ED investigations regularly. The irony in this instance is that AAP has been a votary of strong central laws and central institutions to combat corruption, having transformed itself into a political party after beginning as an anti-corruption campaign platform,â it says.
