As per the cause list of July 11 uploaded on the apex court website, a bench headed by Justice U.U. Lalit would pronounce the order. 2. Sri Lankan parties to meet today to discuss convening of the House for transition of power Sri Lankaâs main Opposition parties on Sunday agreed to form an all-party interim government after the anticipated resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Wednesday, following unprecedented political turmoil that forced him and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to offer their resignations over the mishandling of the nationâs crippling economic crisis. SC to hear plea alleging attacks on Christian institutions, priests today The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea alleging a rising number of attacks on Christian institutions and priests across the country and seeking the implementation of its guidelines to curb hate crimes. A bench of justices D.Y. Chandrachud and A.S.. Bopanna is likely to hear the matter. Senior advocate Colin Gonsalves had mentioned the matter before a vacation bench in June and said on an average, 45 to 50 violent attacks take place against Christian institutions and priests across the country every month. 5. Madras HC to pass order on AIADMK GC meeting at 9 a.m. today The suspense over the conduct of the AIADMK general council meeting scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. today will continue till the last moment as the Madras High Court on Friday decided to pronounce its verdict just an hour before the commencement of the meeting. Justice Krishnan Ramasamy decided to deliver orders at 9 a.m. after hearing senior counsel Vijay Narayan, S.R. Rajagopal and Narmadha Sampath for party leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami and senior counsel Guru Krishnakumar and A.K. Sriram for former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and general council member P. Vairamuthu respectively. 6. Maharashtra rains: Red, orange alerts issued for Vidarbha districts The India Meteorological Department on Sunday issued red and orange alerts for rainfall ranging from extremely heavy to heavy in several districts of Maharashtraâs Vidarbha region over the next three days. The Regional Meteorological Centre in Nagpur issued a red alert and said extremely heavy rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall was very likely in isolated places in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. 8.
