Delhi reports first case of Omicron’s BA.2.12 strain The national capital has reported the BA.2.12 variant of the COVID-19 for the first time, which is more transmissible than the Omicron variant (BA.2) of the virus, according to data seen by The Hindu. The BA.2.12 is a sub-lineage of the Omicron variant and was spotted during genome sequencing to find the current surge in COVID-19 cases in Delhi. 4. U.S.-Ukraine talks today Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine hoped to secure heavy weapons at talks with the U.S. secretaries of State and Defence in Kyiv today, supplies that he said were vital for Ukraine to eventually retake Russian-occupied territory. 5. Trinamool fact-finding team to visit Prayagraj today A five-member fact-finding delegation of All India Trinamool Congress Party (AITC) will visit Prayagraj on Sunday where five members of a family were brutally murdered and later their house was set on fire, informed AITC. Dola Sen, Mamata Bala Thakur, Saket Gokhale, Uma Soren and Lalitesh Tripathi are members of the delegation. 9. Interlocutor assures NSCN(IM) of solution based on Framework Agreement The Centre’s interlocutor A.K. Mishra on Saturday held a third round of talks with NSCN(IM) and assured it that the final solution to the vexed Naga political issue will be based on the Framework Agreement of 2015. The assurance was given by Mr. Mishra to the outfit’s general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah, who led a 29-member team, during a closed-door meeting at Chumoukedima Police Complex, NSCN(IM) ‘home kilonser’ (minister) M Daniel Lotha told PTI. A.K. Mishra is likely to meet the State government’s core committee on Naga Political Issue headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and also Naga civil societies today. 10.
