Centre to launch special initiatives for denotified, nomadic tribes The government is set to launch a scheme to provide good quality coaching, health insurance and financial assistance for construction of houses for members of denotified, nomadic, and semi-nomadic tribes. The denotified tribes, nomadic tribe, semi-nomadic tribes are among the most neglected, marginalised and economically deprived communities with most living a life of destitution. Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar is scheduled to launch the initiatives on Wednesday. 2. PM Modi to deliver inaugural address at TERI summit Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the inaugural address at The Energy and Resources Institute's (TERI) World Sustainable Development Summit on Wednesday. World Sustainable Development Summit is TERI's annual flagship event, the PMO said, noting that the theme for this year's summit is 'Towards a Resilient Planet: Ensuring a Sustainable and Equitable Future'. The Prime Minister will deliver his address via a video message around 6 pm, the PMO said. The summit will discuss a wide range of issues including climate change, sustainable production, energy transitions, global commons and resource security. 3. Hijab Row | Colleges to reopen in Udupi A peace meeting was held at Udupi by district deputy commissioner M Kurma Rao to seek the support of students and the public to ensure smooth conduct of classes in the junior and degree colleges, set to reopen on Wednesday. The pre-university and degree colleges will resume classes from Wednesday after a week-long holiday declared by the state government in the wake of troubles in campuses due to the hijab-saffron shawl controversy. 4. Power minister to interact with students, think tanks in renewable energy event Union minister R K Singh will interact with students and think tanks during a three-day event on renewable energy beginning Wednesday. The programme 'New Frontiers' will be conducted by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy as part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. 5. Arrangements for phase-1 of Odisha Panchayat polls complete: SEC The State Election Commission (SEC), Odisha, said all arrangements are in place to hold the first phase of the three-tier panchayat elections in adherence to the COVID-19 safety norms on Wednesday. As elections to the panchayati raj institutions are being held under COVID-19 restrictions, voters must wear masks and maintain social distancing at the polling booths, SEC A P Padhi said. 6.
