1. Centre to hold meet with Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and U.P. on air pollution The Environment Ministry will hold a meeting on Tuesday with officials of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to review the steps taken to address air pollution. âThe Minister [Bhupender Yadav] already had meetings with officials from the Central Pollution Control Board and will also have a meeting tomorrow [on Tuesday],â a spokesperson for the Ministry confirmed. 2. PM set to inaugurate Purvanchal Expressway on Tuesday All preparations are in place for the inauguration of the Purvanchal Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Karwal Kheri in Sultanpur district on Tuesday, an official statement said. After the launch, the Prime Minister will witness an airshow by the Indian Air Force on the 3.2 kilometre airstrip constructed on the expressway in Sultanpur district. 3. Heavy rains continue to lash Kerala as State receives 105% excess rainfall this month Heavy rains continue to lash parts of Kerala on Monday affecting Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kottayam districts the most resulting in death of three people and widespread damage to property. The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange alert on Monday for the districts of Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts of Kerala. 4. Delhi's air very poor; no improvement in sight for another 3 days Delhi's air quality deteriorated marginally on Monday and no improvement is predicted over the next three days, authorities said. The share of stubble burning in Delhi's pollution stood at 10% on Monday, the lowest since Diwali. 5. Delhi govt to formally exit retail liquor trade on Tuesday The Delhi government will formally exit the liquor business as nearly 600 vends run by it will be shut from Tuesday night, making way for new swanky private shops with walk-in facility which will begin operations the next morning under the new excise policy. Department sources expressed apprehension that there maybe a further shortage of liquor in the city due to the closure of government-run liquor vends as all the 850 new private vends are unlikely to start functioning in one go from Wednesday. 6. Criminal contempt petition filed against Navjot Sidhu A criminal contempt petition has been filed before the Haryana advocate general against Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu for his alleged "irresponsible" tweets in connection with a drug case. The petition was moved by Parampreet Singh Bajwa, an advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Haryana AG will conduct a preliminary hearing in the matter on Tuesday. 7. PM Modi to address 1st Audit Diwas on Tuesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an event on Tuesday to mark the first Audit Diwas at the CAG office.
