Regional NSAs to arrive today for dialogue on Afghanistan Security Czars of Russia, Iran and five Central Asian countries will arrive in Delhi on Tuesday ahead of the “Delhi regional security dialogue” on Afghanistan chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who will also meet his counterparts bilaterally. Officials involved in the dialogue said that the meeting, which Pakistan and China have declined to participate in would seek to share a “common understanding of concerns” shared by Afghanistan’s neighbours due to the Taliban takeover, and build consensus on the way forward to deal with the threats emanating from the Taliban takeover on August 15. 2. Mamata likely to expand Cabinet today West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may expand her Cabinet on Tuesday and she is likely to keep the finance portfolio for herself and make Chandrima Bhattacharya the minister of-state in that department, a top source in the government said on Monday. Former Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra, who had expressed his inability to continue as a minister owing to his fragile health conditions, might be made an advisor. 3. Patnaik, Reddy likely to discuss disputed Andhra-Odisha border Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy are likely to discuss the disputed border between the two states as well as inter-state river projects at a meeting here on Tuesday. At the meeting scheduled to be held from 5 pm at the Lok Seva Bhavan here, the chief ministers are likely to take up the dispute over the Kotia cluster of villages in Koraput district, construction of Neradi barrage over the Vamsadhara river, and the Polavaram multi-purpose project on the Godavari river, officials said. 4. Discussion on the revised draft on WTO's fisheries subsidies from today Member countries of the World Trade Organization (WTO) will begin from Tuesday a clause-by-clause discussion on the revised draft negotiating text on fisheries subsidies while India has indicated that the text still remains "unbalanced", sources said. On Monday, Ambassador Santiago Wills of Colombia, Chair of the Negotiating Group on Rules, introduced to Heads of Delegations a revised draft negotiating text on fisheries subsidies. 5. Delhi lawyers to abstain from work on Nov 9 over judgment convicting bar association ex-president Members of the Coordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi on Monday resolved to go on complete abstinence of work on Tuesday against the conviction of former Delhi High Court Bar Association President Rajiv Khosla in an assault case. A trial court on October 29 had convicted Khosla for assaulting a woman lawyer in 1994. 6. Rajasthan CM to visit his hometown in Jodhpur today Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will be on a day-long visit to his hometown in Jodhpur on Tuesday where he will conduct a public hearing. Gehlot would hold a public hearing at the Circuit House in Jodhpur in the afternoon, according to his tour programme issued by his office. 7. Gopal Rai calls meeting today on reducing pollution from local sources Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday that a joint meeting of all departments concerned will discuss more steps to reduce air pollution in the capital from local sources on November 9. The minister on Sunday had written to the Centre, demanding that an emergency meeting of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan be called to discuss the issue of stubble burning. 8. HC seeks Nawab Malik's response on defamation suit filed by NCB officer Sameer Wankhede's father The Bombay High Court on Monday directed Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik to submit an affidavit in response to a defamation suit filed by Dhyandev Wankhede, the father of Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) Mumbai zonal director Sameer Wankhede. A vacation bench of Justice Madhav Jamdar asked Malik to file his affidavit by Tuesday, and posted the matter for further hearing on Wednesday. 9. Singapore High Court to hear appeal today of Malaysian Indian to be executed on Wednesday A Singapore court on Monday suspended the scheduled execution of a 33-year-old Indian-origin Malaysian man, convicted for drug trafficking, until an appeal is heard on Tuesday, amid global calls to spare him from the gallows.
