Mr. Zuma, whose jailing last month on a contempt of court case led to a wave of looting and unrest, was expected to appear at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday in an arms deal corruption case dating from his time as vice president. 7. Plea against new COVID norms barring unvaccinated persons from venturing out: Kerala HC seeks State govt stand The Kerala High Court on Monday sought the state government's stand on a man's plea challenging the latest COVID-19 guidelines which stipulate that anyone venturing out for shopping, even for essentials, should have received at least one dose of vaccine after he said the new norms are akin to putting him in "house arrest" for not being vaccinated due to drug allergies. With the direction the court listed the matter for hearing on Tuesday. 8. Power sector workers postpone one-day strike planned for Tuesday The All India Power Engineers Federation on Monday said the electricity sector workers have postponed its plan to go on a one-day strike on Tuesday. 9. Indian team off to London as Prithvi, Surya remain in quarantine; Ganguly to attend Lord's Test The Indian contingent on Monday were off to London for the second Test against England at Lord's though replacement players, Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw, remained in Nottingham to complete their quarantine. It is learnt that the entire Indian contingent left for London at around 11 a.m. local time after every member tested negative for RT-PCR. The second Test begins on August 12.
