PM to address CoWIN Global Conclave Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts at the CoWIN Global Conclave to be held on Monday as India will offer the CoWIN platform as a digital public good to other countries to run their own COVID-19 inoculation drives. About 50 countries, including Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama and Uganda, have shown interest in adopting CoWIN to run their vaccination drives, Dr. R.S. Sharma, the CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), had said recently, adding that India is ready to share the open-source software for free. 2. Ram Vilas Paswan's birth anniversary, an occasion for LJP factions to flex their muscles The battle for Ram Vilas Paswan's legacy is being played out as his son Chirag and brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, heading two rival factions of the Lok Janshakti Party, manoeuvre for a test of strength on the late leaders birth anniversary on Monday. Chirag, who has been cornered within the party he headed until recently on account of a political coup staged by his uncle, will be launching an ashirwad yatra from Hajipur, the Lok Sabha constituency his father nurtured for many decades. 3. Maharashtra's two-day monsoon session from today Ahead of the two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature, BJP Leader of the Opposition and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis hit out at the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, accusing it of deliberately curtailing the session with the aim of stifling the Opposition’s voice on several issues. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said Opposition BJP should allow the two-day monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislature to function smoothly if it has the interest of the State's people in mind. The two-day monsoon session of the State legislature will begin on Monday. 4. 54 special teams in Bengaluru to keep vigil on COVID-19 norms violators With Karnataka government further relaxing the existing COVID-19 restrictions under "Unlock 3.0" effective from July 5, the Bengaluru Commissioner of Police Kamal Pant on Sunday said 54 special teams of marshals and police personnel would be deployed across the city to keep vigil on violation of norms and take action. 5. Delhi govt permits stadia, sports complexes to reopen without spectators The Delhi government has given permission to the city's stadiums and sports complexes to reopen from Monday but without spectators, according to an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). There will be strict adherence to standard operating procedure and other guidelines of the government, and compliance of Covid-appropriate behaviour, the DDMA said on Sunday. 6. Goa extends COVID-19 curfew by week, but allows restricted gatherings The Goa government on Sunday extended till July 12 the current State-level curfew that is in place to curb COVID-19 cases, but allowed social, political and cultural gatherings, marriages and other congregations of up to 100 people or 50% of the venue capacity. The casinos in the State, however, will continue to remain shut till July 12. 7. Weekend curfew in 5 more districts in J-K lifted, vaccinated people allowed in malls The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday lifted the weekend curfew from five more districts, thereby increasing the arch of relaxation to 13 districts of the Union Territory after significant improvement in COVID-19 situation, officials said. The government made vaccination and negative RT-PCR report mandatory for people visiting indoor shopping complexes, malls, restaurants, bars and indoor sports complexes. 8. Haryana extends lockdown till July 12 The Haryana government on Sunday extended the COVID-19 lockdown by another week till July 12, while allowing some examinations to be held. According to the order issued by Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan, “the Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana is extended for another week, that is from July 5 (5 a.m. onwards) to July 12 (till 5 a.m.)” The state government has termed the covid-induced lockdown as "Mahamari Alert-Surakshit Haryana". 9. Nadda in Himachal on 3-day tour, to visit Atal Tunnel BJP president J.P. Nadda arrived in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur on Sunday on a three-day visit to the State. He will visit the Atal Tunnel Rohtang (ATR) on Monday. Nadda, who is on a visit to his home State, could not attend a function in October 3 last year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the prestigious tunnel. 10. SC to examine original records of Ramdev's statement on allopathy The Supreme Court will examine on Monday the original records of the statements of Yoga guru Ramdev on the use of allopathic medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic following his plea to stay investigation and transfer the cases lodged against him in this connection to Delhi. Multiple FIRs have been lodged against Ramdev in Patna and Raipur following complaints by the Indian Medical Association 11. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments The ongoing second COVID-19 wave had a lower mean age of patients, higher percentage of hospitalisations despite fewer comorbidities and patients with breathlessness in greater frequency, says a new government study.
