1. NCP chief Sharad Pawar meets Prashant Kishor Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar will host Opposition leaders at his Delhi residence on Tuesday. The proposed meeting will take place under the banner of Rashtra Manch, a front founded by former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, who is now a Trinamool Congress member, to discuss the “national scenario”. Mr. Pawar on Monday met election strategist Prashant Kishor, triggering speculation that a Third Front is taking shape ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Mr Kishor, however, denied that Tuesday’s meeting was being convened at his suggestion and clarified that he would not be part of it. 2. Supreme Court to hear appeal against HC order on filing of affidavits in Narada sting case The Supreme Court will hear on Tuesday appeals filed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Law Minister Moloy Ghatak against the Calcutta High Court’s refusal to immediately consider their affidavits countering allegations about their role on the day of arrest of four TMC leaders by the CBI in the Narada sting tape case. 3. Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat to chair key meet on theatre commands Extensive studies have been undertaken and discussed over the last two years before arriving at a broad plan to create four integrated triservice commands, an official said on Monday. As part of the ongoing deliberations, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Bipin Rawat is scheduled to chair a meeting on Tuesday with the Vice-Chiefs of the three services, the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff and the representatives from the Ministries of Defence, Home and Finance. 4. Assam, Tripura cancel class 12 board exams, SC informed The Supreme Court was informed by the Assam and Tripura governments on Monday that their State boards have cancelled the ensuing class 12 exams. A Bench of Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari said it will hear all the pleas on cancellation of State board exams on Tuesday at 2 p.m. 5. BJP calls emergency meeting in Jammu to chalk out 'counter-strategy' against Gupkar Alliance Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina on Monday said he is meeting senior party leaders to chalk out a “counter-strategy” against Gupkar Alliance ahead of the all-party meeting to be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 24. 6. Parents, students flag concerns over CBSE, CISCE evaluation formulas for class 12 results The Supreme Court asked CBSE and ICSE to respond by Tuesday to the concerns raised by some students and parents on the schemes of both the boards formulated to evaluate Class 12 students, whose examination was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 7. Order on RJD MP Amarendra Dhari Singh's bail plea in fertiliser scam case Amarendra Dhari Singh, a Member of Parliament and a businessman, was arrested by the ED on June 2 under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and is under judicial custody. Advocate Zoheb Hussain, representing the ED, said the order on Singh’s bail plea filed before a Special judge was reserved and listed for Tuesday. 8. Nadda to address BJP 'Kisan Morcha' meeting BJP president J.P. Nadda will address the first meeting of the newly nominated national office-bearers of the party's 'Kisan Morcha' on Tuesday. The party's farmer wing's spokesperson Manoj Yadav said in a statement the meeting will deliberate on countering Opposition parties and some farm unions on their "misinformation" campaign against the three agriculture reform laws, which have drawn protests from a section of farmers. 9. World Test Championship final, day 5 The fickle English weather played spoilsport in a game promising high quality contest as day four of the inaugural World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand was washed out due to rain. For the second time in the one-off clash, a whole day was lost after no play was possible also on the opening day. Rain is not forecast for the remaining two days of the big final but it is likely to remain overcast as it has been the case so far when play did take place. 10. Coronavirus in India | Numbers and developments More than 82 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered on Monday, the highest-ever in a day since the inoculation drive began in India. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India stood at 2,99,76,905 at the time of publishing this newsletter. The death toll from the disease stands at 3,89,324.
