[Funkiest guitar parts]( twoheadedboy · Apr 24, 2023 at 3:17 PM · Replies 133 Please post the funkiest guitar parts you can think of, other than Cissy Strut, which is the Stairway to Heaven of funk. I recently discovered the guitar break in Smooth Criminal. Holy crap is it ever funky. David Williams was amazing. The part starts at 2:45 in the song... Forum [The Sound Hound Lounge]( [Read more](
[Gibson CEO change]( Juan Rueda · May 2, 2023 at 7:15 PM · Replies 96 My initial take is that this looks like a good move. The fact that they coordinated this handoff and announcement to someone internally is a sign that this may have been in the works and not a surprise or because of chaos. Also Cesar at least from the youtube videos is a guitarist and musician himself which is a huge plus and comes from the product side... Forum [Guitars in General]( [Read more](
[I bought a couple Northern Electric 12AX7s]( RhytmEarl · Mar 6, 2015 at 8:12 PM · Replies 26 I put them in a Magic Amps Z-1. I had NOS JAN 12AX7s in there before. The Northern Electrics are in one word: smooth. I prefer them over the NOS JANs. Really rich and warm. They might be slightly less gain, I had to bump up the volume knob a hair on the amp. And just a hair. I love... Forum [Amps and Cabs]( [Read more](
[Stupid question about watts]( Young Dad · May 2, 2023 at 8:25 PM · Replies 19 I have a 50 watt bassman amp and a 2x12 cab. Can I run two 30 watt speakers safely? I need to crank them. If not, what do I need? I have googled this (maybe too much) and have come up with conflicting info... Forum [Amps and Cabs]( [Read more](
[The Kingsley Pedal Club]( Vishnu · Sep 15, 2017 at 3:36 PM · Replies 27K Yeah I can mount it, thats not the problem since my case is deep enough if I turn my board into 2 tiers - power amp on 1st tier (which is basically the surface of the board) and put my pedals on the 2nd tier. However the problem is Simon wont make the crucible in 230-240v Australian mains. I have to use a transformer to be able to use it. I’m exploring on ordering it, and... [Any bands you feel like you "outgrew"?]( KissTone · Apr 25, 2023 at 2:41 PM · Replies 557 I've had favorite or beloved bands for whom my affection has endured decades and other bands that simply have faded (naturally) from my attention . . . But there are some bands I feel like I just "outgrew"--in other words, my interest in them was just too linked to a younger me and now I... Forum [The Sound Hound Lounge]( [Read more](
[KEMPER new "Liquid profiling" Technology...]( Stef_herbuel · May 2, 2023 at 8:20 PM · Replies 25 Profile with Modeled Tone Stack and Gain/Presence changes. It's patented. Wonder what this means for NAM, Tonex, and other profilers that are sure to come. Can be added after the fact to existing profiles (perhaps when new models are implemented). 40 Channels (e.g., bright channel, tremolo) of amps have been... [Convert Marshall studio vintage to 50 watts]( mistermig · May 2, 2023 at 11:37 AM · Replies 9 I have my trusty Marshall SV20H that I love so dearly, but it lacks some oomph for jamming with loud drummers and full bands, 20w is just not enough, even through a 412 with v30's. Has anyone else pondered upping these little beauties to 50 watts? I'm guessing it would take a new output... Forum [Amps/Cabs Tech Corner: Amplifier, Cab & Speakers]( [Read more](
N[ever played an SG before, what are they like?]( voorhiessa · May 2, 2023 at 2:15 PM · Replies 73 Small, light. Obviously the fret access is excellent. A little brighter and more upper mids than a typical Les Paul. You can feel the notes you play through the body, I’ve found that to be more the case with an SG than any other solid or even semi-hollow I’ve owned. Not sure it matters but it’s part of the experience... Forum [Guitars in General]( [Read more](
[The effect of tone pot's value]( sleepingtiger · May 23, 2014 at 3:56 AM · Replies 17 I know an increased value on a volume pot will make a pickups responce a bit more robust with increased treble response, but what effect does the tone pot value have on the pickup response? What about if you keep tone pot dimed? Forum [Luthier's Guitar & Bass Technical Discussion]( [Read more](
[Sounds familiar]( Tech21 · May 2, 2023 at 10:30 PM · Replies 5 An interesting bit of history about Henry Thomas is that he was considerably older than most other ‘blues’ artists recording at this time (he was born in 1874). He would have been in his early 50s at the time of these recordings. His work falls to more of a ‘songster’ style bringing with it a glimpse into an older style of performance. We are lucky he was able to record all the sides he did, great stuff... Forum [The Sound Hound Lounge]( [Read more](
[What’s your favorite Fuzzrite?]( imguitardan · Jan 10, 2022 at 11:46 PM · Replies 83 I’m not looking for the most accurate or vintage necessarily but your favorite. I have a Sonic VI Ge that’s great and vintage and just grabbed a Real Cool Fuzz to get my Si Stooges vibe. I just LOVE this circuit so much. What’s YOUR favorite?
