It became even more apparent in the general election for those who properly view Wikileaks as a proxy for Russia, not as the independent truth teller they were depicted as in the media right up til the point they began attacking Hillary Clinton. The nature of this influence was clear: that regardless who won, the Russians were interesting in achieving the same thing they have achieved in other nation-states – creating a heightened level of distrust in institutions, elections, and systems people formerly trusted.
