You don't want to miss any of these. . . Your weekly update of the most popular content from The Federalist. Be lovers of freedom and anxious for the fray [View this email in your browser]( 1. Democrats Have Made Sure That Brett Kavanaugh Will Never Get A Fair Hearing By David Harsanyi There will never be genuine due process on the floor of the Senate circus --------------------------------------------------------------- Without the emergence of new evidence, we will never know if Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation against Brett Kavanaugh is true or not. And there’s nothing Kavanaugh can do or say that will clear his name. If you’re a man, a single uncorroborated account that dates back to 1982 is all your political critics need to accuse you of attempted rape. [Read More]( 2. The Kavanaugh Allegation Process Is A Miscarriage Of Justice For Everyone By Mollie Hemingway A Senate star chamber full of grandstanding senators on both sides will not elucidate what happened four decades ago, when all people involved were minors, and the accuser is unclear on the details. --------------------------------------------------------------- After the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh concluded last week, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., revealed that for six weeks she’d hidden a claim he’d sexually assaulted someone. Christine Blasey Ford then told the Washington Post that Kavanaugh had sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers. Although she said she doesn’t remember where or when the alleged event occurred, she said she believes it may have been in the summer of 1982 and that Kavanaugh’s friend Mark Judge was present for the assault. Notes from a couples therapy session in 2012 show that she spoke of an assault involving four boys, not two, from an elitist DC boys’ school. Kavanaugh isn’t mentioned in the notes, but Ford’s husband says she told him the name at that time and said she was worried he might be a Supreme Court nominee in the future. [Read More]( 3. Will Unleashing Kavanaugh’s Accuser Suck Away Democrats’ Midterm ‘Blue Wave’? By Joseph A. Wulfsohn If Christine Blasey Ford doesn’t show up to Monday’s hearing, it will hurt the Democratic Party, which has thrown full support behind her without waiting for the facts. --------------------------------------------------------------- The confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has easily been one of the ugliest battles in the history of U.S. politics. Obviously, the hostility began during the 2016 election when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) blocked the confirmation of President Obama’s SCOTUS nominee Judge Merrick Garland to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. No matter what you thought of the outcome, it was the epitome of dirty politics as well as a stroke of political genius, as the SCOTUS vacancy was a huge factor among those who voted Donald Trump into office. [Read More]( 4. Whatever Happens To Kavanaugh, Feinstein Got Exactly What She Wanted By David Marcus Dianne Feinstein, who rose to the Senate in the original 'Year of the Woman,' just pulled off a cynical political masterpiece. --------------------------------------------------------------- The leading Democratic figures during Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings were presumed 2020 presidential hopefuls Kamala Harris and Cory Booker. Both grandstanded to great applause from Democratic partisans, but failed to nick the nomination. The two young guns made a lot of noise, but it was an older, wiser woman who with a single shot turned a hopeless situation for Democrats into a big potential political win. Dianne Feinstein was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992, the original “year of the woman.” During the previous year, Clarence Thomas had been confirmed to the Supreme Court despite Anita Hill’s allegations that he had sexually harassed her. The Democrats used the anger many women felt at those proceedings to elect a record number of women to Congress. It’s a play that Feinstein knows well and helped invent. This week, she called that play again. [Read More]( 5. Why The GOP Should Confirm Kavanaugh In Spite Of This Last-Minute Accusation By David Marcus If the Democrats think Brett Kavanaugh is disqualified based on accusations of sexual assault, the hearings were the time to bring it up. --------------------------------------------------------------- Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s September surprise exploded yesterday as Christine Blasey Ford, a professor in California, came forward as the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in 1981. The Washington Post broke the tale she was apparently reluctant to tell. With Kavanaugh about to swing the court to fascism, according to the left, well, her reluctance relented. Now we must decide how the Senate should react to this last-gasp attack. The answer is pretty simple: He should be confirmed. For whatever reason, Feinstein decided that these allegations should remain under wraps even from other Democrats during the hearing process. That was the time Kavanaugh and witnesses could have been confronted by these allegations. But no, Feinstein waited, and threw this grenade into the final moments of his nomination.
