[Full article]( [New AP U.S. History Textbook Implies Christians Are Bigots, Reagan A Racist]( By Joy Pullmann It would be very tempting to dismiss this as a fluke, as something that's not happening in your local schools or state, some crazy thing that only affects other people and other people's kids. [Full article]( [How Should White Americans Deal With Their Ancestors?]( By David Marcus In the age of privilege, can white Americans still feel pride about their ancestors? [Full article]( [‘A Quiet Place’ Unravels Our Deepest Fears About Giving Children Life]( By Titus Techera It’s not about individualism, it’s not about rugged heroes or implausible survivors—it’s about a mother, a father, and their children. All the fear stems from our need to protect what we love the most. [Full article]( [The Baby Shortage Downed Toys ‘R’ Us, And It’s Coming For Our Entire Tax Base]( By Glenn T. Stanton What doesn’t happen in the bedroom doesn’t stay in the bedroom. Toys 'R' Us can tell you that. [Full article]( [How ‘Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay’ Turns The Antihero Upside Down]( By Aaron Gleason This little superhero film is a textbook in MacGuffin. It even has an extra featurette discussing the nature of MacGuffins. [Full article]( [No, One-Third of American College Students Aren’t Homeless And Hungry]( By Elizabeth Bauer Media are blowing a problem of hunger on college campuses way out of proportion. [Full article]( [The Anti-Gun Plotline In ‘Lost In Space’ Is Forced And Ludicrous]( By Ellie Bufkin The anti-gun message is an ill-fitting exception to what is otherwise an apolitical show, and is simply not believable as a plot point. [Full article]( [Revisiting Battlestar Galactica: ‘Flesh and Bone’ and ‘Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down’]( By Warren Henry The paranoia that can be spread by Cylon infiltration is played as both deadly serious and as light comedy in two linked episodes. [Full article]( [Lionel Shriver Discusses Writing Novels, Censorship, And Social Media]( By The Federalist Staff Writer and journalist Lionel Shriver discusses her new collection of short stories and what inspired her on this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour. [Full article]( [Comey’s Handling Of Hillary Clinton Shows Us He’s No Hero]( By David Harsanyi The former FBI director James Comey's higher loyalty isn’t to justice or to our institutions. It's to his own self-preservation. [Full article]( [If Even Emo James Comey Can Chill On Impeachment, So Can The Rest of Trump’s Critics]( By Mary Katharine Ham There's a revealing moment in Comey's interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos when he doesn't go all in on anti-Trump hysteria. [Full article]( JAMES COMEY IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS buzz about James Comey’s book for the past week in Washington was that it was going to be profoundly disappointing for people who wanted actual news. Instead, it was referred to as “breezy” “petty” and “score-settling” to me by those who had actually been granted access to this holy grail of tomes. Sometimes it’s good to have your faith rewarded: This is the most Emo Comey production yet, with a theatrical and over-the-top attitude toward telling a story in which the tall G-Man is beset upon all sides by ugly fools who simply do not understand his august moral mission for the country. A simple way of telling that a Washington book is lying is when no one is as virtuous as the author. The likelihood of that ever being true is practically nil.
