TRUMPâS TAX WIN
the early hours of Saturday morning, President Trump and Senate Republicans finally managed to get a legislative win for the GOP: a tax plan, one that is far more conventionally Republican than what Trump had teased prior to taking the presidency (and prior to Steve Bannonâs exit) passed with the votes of all Senate Republicans except Bob Corker. This should not be underestimated as a development that could have an impact next year. Economic issues are nearly always the most significant factors in elections, and should Democrats have to face a reality where Wall Street is booming, working class wages are rising, and middle class voters see bigger paychecks, it will be much more difficult for them to run what is essentially a midterm campaign for impeachment, even against an unpopular president.
