Ahh yes, it's that time of year again. It's cold as heck and everyone you know is in a frantic scramble to figure out what to do when the ball drops. My advice to you is that you should have figured this out a week ago. But now you should just corral like five friends, settle on two parties that sound fun, and then tell everyone else that you don't know what you're doing but you'll keep them in the loop. Then abandon the loop. Here's some stuff to read while ghosting your acquaintances.
- Colin Kaepernick is too good for football. In spite of (or maybe because) not playing this season, he's managed to completely change the conversation about sports and race in America. If you've got some relatives who are using this holiday season to spout some coded (or not so coded) language about Kap, maybe [make them read this.](
- Here's a cool one. This nonprofit in California teaches brown girls how to surf and makes them feel [at home in the water.]( This piece will make you feel EVERYTHING in the best way possible. If you're feeling charitable, you can also [donate]( to the organization.
- Please read what these 11-year-old twins [have to say about bullying.]( It is both cute and very real, a good reminder that kids really do get it.
