Friend, You only have to be a trader for about an hour to hear for the first time: "The trend is your friend." But is it true? The short answer is absolutely yes. Here's the main reason new traders go wrong...... New traders look for the 'turn around' in order to catch the 'new move' at the beginning in order to get it all. That's called greed and greed will kill your results faster than anything else. The great thing about a trend (higher highs and higher lows in an uptrend and lower highs and lower lows in a downtrend) is that it's an indication of momentum. You don't want to fight momentum. If you use a momentum indicator, like the RSI or MacD, you can watch for a decreasing momentum that could result in a change in trend... but you'll at least another indicator to confirm and even then, you're usually looking at a 50/50 deal if you're involving yourself in a strong trend. The better way to approach a trend is to honor it. Some of the highest probability trades result from your recognizing the fact that trends tend to continue. So, When you have identified a trend, wait for a correction. Many times, that correction is 33% or more of the most recent "leg" and often times, in addition, will hit your drawn trend line perfectly. Then, if you get an entrance trigger to jump in on the continuation of the trend... well, that, my friend, will give you HIGH probability of success. Unless you're a highly skilled trader with deep pockets, stick with the trend. It's going to require patience to wait for you correction, but if you practice THIS approach, you'll get better and better at it. If you're not a consistently winning trader, you'll want to own my Simple Trading Plan, Loaded Gun. Just read the testimonials and see why it's the best trading plan I've ever created (and I've written 3 books on building and running trading plans). It's simple to learn and simple to run.
