Hi Friend, One a day when there are no govt reports, the markets (like stock entices, gold, bonds, crude, etc.) tend NOT to seek any extremes. They mostly trend in a range and many times that trend is sideways. Today is one of those days will no reports. Here are a few of the trading adjustments I make. 1. Normally, my trading involves a combination of scalping and letting a position run, in equal measure. During days of no reports, I emphasize scalping...although not to the elimination of letting a position run...I want to be able to benefit from an extended move, but knowing the tendency is to stay within a trading range, I de-emphasize the runner. 2. Price tends to honor support and resistance levels even more strictly than normal, so I concentrate on finding responsible triggers that put me short at the top of the range and put be long at the bottom. Since I "rate" my triggers A+, A, and B+, I'm willing to act on B+ triggers in these situations more than I would normally because of the tendency to stay with a range. PS: When I say range in these notes, the range may be sloping up or down or it may be sideways. 3. I don't play around with stops above and below an established range. Why? Because some if the biggest moves result when a range is broken and no matter what market conditions are, I need to respect that. My stops are relatively tight above and below the range and I live with the results. OK. That's it for now. I just wanted to spill my thoughts out today as this is one of those expected rangy days. And, as always… Stay Disciplined! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
