Scott Fitzgerald [Learn more about RevenueStripe...]( What Do You Expect? The Headline Trump's proposed "space force" not included in 2019 spending package The Grind In June, Trump spoke about creating a sixth branch of the military to focus on future operations and conflicts in space. The idea earned some admiration, but was largely criticized by members of both parties as an unrealistic goal and needless expense. Trump's space force will only become a reality if he can gain support from lawmakers, as they are the only ones with the authority to create and fund a new branch of the military. The Details This week, Congress agreed on a defense spending package for FY2019. And while the document establishes a groundbreaking policy on cyber warfare and urges the Sec. of Defense to "develop a space war fighting policy," it does not mention or include funding for a "space force." Lawmaker's refusal to include the space force in the spending package is due to disinterest as well as bad timing; Trump didn't speak about the idea until June -- after officials had already turned in most proposals for the bill. Lawmakers will vote on the bill later this summer. If approved, it will be sent to the Oval Office for Trump's approval. In the meantime, Trump's "space force" will remain nothing but a daydream. And while the document continues to recognize Communism as a guiding force in Cuba's one-party system, it does recognize private property and defines "marriage" as the union between two individuals (rather than a man and a woman). The document also sets term limits for presidents and insists they be under age 60 when they first take office. "This does not mean we are renouncing our ideas," said Esteban Lazo, who leads the Cuban National Assembly. "We believe in a socialist, sovereign, independent, prosperous, and sustainable country." The Details Cuba's current constitution, authored in 1940, recognizes the state, cooperative, farmer, personal, and joint-venture property. The draft constitution's recognition of private property - an idea once criticized by the Communist party as an element of Capitalism - is a key change that will be a boon for the private sector and will attract foreign investment in the island. The draft constitution, which was presented to lawmakers on Saturday, must be approved before it is submitted to a popular consultation. After that, a final version of the document will be put to a national vote. [share]( [tweet]( Good to the last drop Did you know...
