Here's the impact of the work you make possible No images? [Click here]( [Your support + our journalism = BIG IMPACT]( Dear Reader, You often hear people say, “Information is power.” In real life, it’s accurate and meaningful information that is power. At The Conversation, that’s exactly what we deliver in your inbox every weekday, week after week, year after year. Our articles could be on topics that affect your life or our world – or they could be on research or innovation that’s just interesting and worth knowing about. But their impact goes way beyond your inbox. Every article we publish gets republished on multiple websites – an average of 15 times – ranging from tiny, struggling newsrooms to large media leaders. They are curated in other newsletters and reprinted in local newspapers and by community organizations. The authors are invited on radio and TV shows. And then, these articles get a life of their own. Some get made into viral TikToks, like the story about a new dialect that has emerged in Florida that was liked 481,000 times. Some raise national awareness of an issue that might not have been widely discussed, such as a recent article on the rural child care crisis, which also got the attention of the bipartisan sponsors of a new bill to address it. Sometimes, our expert authors, such as the one who wrote about how targeted social media advertising drives people to extremes, get invited to testify at a hearing for a bill because a lawmaker read the article she wrote on our site. Our stories are regularly used by teachers in schools and colleges as a part of their curriculum. This is work with a meaningful impact. But we can only do it with your support. Today is the last day of our fundraising drive. (Thank you very much for your patience with our emails to you this month!) As a nonprofit, we don’t put up paywalls. But we do invite those who can support us to step up and ensure that in a time when it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s not, accurate (and useful) information gets to those who need it the most. [Give monthly]( [Give once]( With gratitude for your generosity, Beth Daley Executive Editor and General Manager, The Conversation P.S: Our fundraising drive ends on June 30. If you can [make a donation at any level you’re comfortable with](, it will go a long way toward enabling journalism you can trust. Every donor will receive two free e-books: one with our most insightful articles explaining generative AI, like ChatGPT, and another looking at climate solutions being worked on by some of the smartest scientists and engineers in the nation. If you make[a recurring donation of $20 per month]( (or more), we will thank you with a tote bag. And every gift of $1,000 or more will be thanked with a set of two of our newly minted, first-edition books. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
