In case you missed it, the Seattle Seahawks sent a cease and desist letter to my campaign because my husband Scotty was wearing a jersey they gave him in one of my ads. For those who donât know, my husband Scotty Smiley lost his eyesight due to a car bomb while serving in Iraq. He then went on to become the first active-duty blind military officer in U.S. history. The NFL may use the mantra âSalute to Service,â but they clearly donât practice what they preach. I didnât back down when federal bureaucrats were working against my efforts to help Scotty become the first blind active-duty Army officer.
