[1. California is now leveraging teacher pension funds to ban guns](
Take a moment to celebrate the fact that you don't live in California (our condolences to you if you do). We say this because the state is now leveraging the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) to crack down on guns. The pension fund voted to take actions on Wednesday that included threats to unseat board members and divest from companies that sell guns and gun accessories that are illegal in California. The board also vowed to hire two new staff members who will spearhead the efforts and be paid $280K per year. Find out why a firearms spokesman finds the move dangerous [here](.

[2. Keeping the faith one university battle at a time](
Karissa Erickson was thrilled to speak at one of her graduation ceremonies at Colorado Mesa University until things took a turn for the weird. When one of the administrators proofread her speech, they told her to take out the words "Jesus" and "Bible" because someone had been offended by the Bible several years ago. Well, Erickson wasn't going to let the administrator off that easy. She pushed back on the decision, but the administrator wouldn't budge. So she lawyered up. Erickson enlisted Alliance Defending Freedom to help fight, and ultimately win, the battle against religious censorship. Let's just say the university reversed their course quickly and said it was all just a big "misunderstanding." Find out more [here](.

[3. Autistic boy arrested for imaginary rifle](
David Simmons was arrested for pretending to play with an imaginary rifle in Conroe, Texas, on Monday after his art teacher alerted administrators of Simmons' gesture. The 12-year-old was then swept up by authorities, put in handcuffs, and taken to a Juvenile Detention Center where he remained for two whole hours. Criminal charges probably won't be filed against since because he's relatively young and because of his special needs status. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. See a list of other instances [here](.
