*|MC_PREVIEW_TEXT|* Hi How are you doing today? You just heard from my colleague yesterday. Allow me to talk to you today. I'm Padmapriya, one of the members of the marketing team at The Better Home. Living next to frothing lakes I live in Bangalore. The reason I'm sharing where I live is that it's shaped a lot of my decisions. I was living next to a frothing lake, inhaling a lot of suspended toxins. I naively thought it would pass. It never did. I decided to move out of the vicinity and do something about it. Dirty Secrets One of the main reasons for frothing lakes is the wash water from homes. Commercial household cleaners hide some very dirty secrets. Sulphates in floor cleaners, triclosan used as a foaming agent in dish wash detergents, acids used in toilet cleaners and phthalates used in synthetic fragrances are not only detrimental to our health but also very bad for the urban water bodies. This does not end here. It seeps into the underground water and pollutes them as well. The Decision I decided to switch to safe cleaning products and I've never looked back. It has a two-fold impact. The first one is on personal health. I realised that germ-free doesn't mean that it's good for you. We've spent so much of our time indoors this year. I feel that the decision to switch to safe cleaners is much more significant now. VOCs present in the cleaners deplete the indoor quality and cause a lot of respiratory issues. The second impact is on the water bodies and the planet. It gives me the peace of mind that I've made the right choice. A simple, conscious choice that I made prevents thousands of litres of water from contamination. Personally, it's a big win for me. Why am I sharing this with you? At The Better Home, we love products and conversations that have a positive impact on our lives and the planet. On our [Instagram account](, we put out interesting content about things that have a positive impact on us and our planet. You can join our conversation [here](. Also, check out [The Better Home shop]([here.]( Hopefully, I've been able to convince you. But if you aren't convinced, then we'll level up. Look out for emails from my colleagues. We are confident that you'll join us in the movement to make homes safer and the planet happy. Meanwhile, write to me if you have any thoughts around the conversations that we are having at padmapriya@thebetterindia.com. Have a good day, Padmapriya
