Throughout the month, we’re honoring our amazing American Red Cross volunteers. And today, we wanted to show you firsthand the extraordinary work our volunteers do on a daily basis. [Take a look at a day in the life of a Red Cross volunteer as they work to deliver critical support to communities across the country.]( [VIEW THE TIMELINE]( The Red Cross has been serving families and neighbors for over a century, providing essential support during times of crisis and need. We respond immediately to disasters both big and small to provide physical, emotional and financial support to those facing their most difficult moments. But this work would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers. Our volunteers are an essential part of the Red Cross family and make an incredible impact on the communities we serve. Each year on average, they enable us to: - Help those in need and respond to more than 60,000 disasters. - Train more than 4.6 million people in Red Cross lifesaving skills, providing them with the knowledge and confidence to respond to emergencies. - Provide nearly 550,000 services to military members, veterans and their families, ensuring they are supported during difficult times. - Give blood and platelet donations at more than 191,000 blood drives and donation centers nationwide, saving countless lives. That’s why we’re highlighting their vital role in our organization today and all month long.
