The impacts of the conflict have taken a toll, particularly on the most vulnerable — children, people with disabilities and the elderly. The global Red Cross and Red Crescent network has provided crucial assistance, offering not only cash for shelter, food and emergency supplies, but also implementing one of the largest cash assistance programs in the history of the network. Our Mass Care Sheltering teams ensure that those impacted by disaster have a safe place to sleep in Red Cross shelters. Disaster Assessment teams review damage and impact to begin providing casework and recovery support. Finally, we have specialized roles for health professionals in our Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health activities.
