Wall Street estimates were for 573,000 nonfarm jobs created, but the number came in at just 210,000. That’s a big miss in that headline number… Under the surface, unemployment fell to 4.2%. The lower that number, the more people are employed, which is of course good for the economy. Both of these data points play into what the Federal Reserve is going to do next… and Chair Jerome Powell also had some interesting things to say this week that moved markets.
