[What convinces you to try a new beauty brand?]( Product reviews from people I trust that are favorable or else when readers are really interested in a new brand, then I might wing it - but it depends. A new brand at Sephora doesn't make me as nervous about a bunch of drama behind the brand (certainly possible that there is, though), and the drama behind new/smaller brands absolutely convinces me not to try the brand. Touch Me Baby Eyeshadow Duo]( MAC Touch Me Baby Eyeshadow Duo ($22.00 for 0.10 oz.) features two powder eyeshadows with one of them--Soba--being part of MAC's permanent range. The two shades worked well paired together, but it was the type of duo that still made me want to reach for other shades. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Soba incorporated with Keep On Twinkling as the latter had a much more shimmery texture and sometimes mattes and shimmers do not play well together for blending/layering next to each other. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to opaque coverage with two layers. The consistency was lightly creamy, emollient without being too slippery, and noticeably sparkly, so it did not feel quite as smooth as other Super Shock Shadows have in the past (but not in a dry way). The consistency was thin with a fair amount of slip--it felt a little oily (and it is advertised as being "with coconut oil")--but the glitter and shimmer spread evenly across the lips, which I always find to be key in a sheerer, shimmery gloss.
