A done deal?
[Chris Evans]
By Chris Evans, Editor
Dear reader,
The deal has been done. Boris Johnson and the EU have achieved what many thought was impossible only a few weeks ago and have come to a new agreement on Brexit. Is it in the bag? Certainly not. The DUP, the keystone in any pro-Brexit Commons majority, are still holding out. Whether they come round will be of vital importance. You can keep on top of everything with regular updates from our excellent teams in Westminster, Brussels, Dublin and Belfast in our [live blog here]( and in the [latest reports from Peter Foster]( our unmatched Europe Editor who has led the Brexit pack for three years.
Now that an agreement has been reached, it will be time for Parliament to have its say. The Commons is expected to sit on Saturday to vote on the deal, which could be agonisingly tight. The DUP, who carry much more weight than their 10 seats would imply, will be vital. [James Rothwell explains]( from Belfast what it is the party objects to and why.
However, with his majority long gone, Mr Johnson will need the support not only of the DUP but of many of the former colleagues he expelled from the party and perhaps a dozen or more Labour MPs. [Patrick Scott takes you through]( how it all stacks up in the Commons and how Mr Johnson could reach a majority.
Alongside the DUP, the Brexiteers on the Tory backbenches will be a crucial faction. Those MPs may face a deeply unappetising choice. They may find plenty to dislike in the new deal, but as [Allister Heath argues in his column]( this could well be their final chance to secure a genuine Brexit. How have they found themselves in this uncomfortable position? [Camilla Tominey has the full story](.
