--------------------------------------------------------------- IN FOCUS In today's newsletter, we spotlight: - [The climate tech environment in Southeast Asia](
- Ola reducing its ride-hailing losses in FY23
- Other newsy highlights such as Googleâs layoffs and J&T Expressâ new China CEO --------------------------------------------------------------- Hello {NAME} Almost every January, the weather in Singapore gets bearable for once. Because it rains so heavily throughout the month, the temperature drops to around 26 or 27 degrees Celsius, and I can sit in my chair for five minutes without perspiring. Itâs been like this for the last two weeks or so, and I, for one, wish it could be like this for every single week to come. That said, I know that this respite will be brief. Sooner rather than later, weâll get back to our usual blisteringly hot 35-degree weather, and Iâll start reaching for the air-conditioning remote now and then. These conditions have made me acutely aware of the growing impact climate change is having - after all, it wasnât usual to have temperatures swinging this wildly from month to month. Letâs hope that some of the Southeast Asian climate tech startups in todayâs story have something to say about that. -- Jonathan
