Part of me kind of gets it because there’s always this unbearable pressure to do well in school. I’d also offer a slightly different perspective to what he said - beyond just “making money” as the reason to get your kids to be doctors, it’s simply a reflection that they were “the best” when it came to studying and scoring well for exams. After all, getting into medicine in Singapore requires straight As in every single subject. Voila! Proof that your kid is the most hardworking and studious student that ever … student-ed.
