--------------------------------------------------------------- IN FOCUS In today's newsletter, we spotlight: - [The Malaysia tech sceneâs âinflection pointâ](
- MapmyIndia and Ola Mapsâ war of words
- How to survive the funding game
- Other newsy highlights such as WeRide gearing up for an IPO in the US --------------------------------------------------------------- Hello {NAME} Staying optimistic is important for tech founders, but I imagine that might be hard to do at the moment. Itâs easy to become discouraged about your companyâs prospects when you see terms like âlayoffs,â âtech winter,âand âhard fundraising environmentâ all the time. Thatâs partly why tech ecosystems need optimistic voices - cheerleaders whose rosy views are based on their knowledge, experience and data. There are few who are as energetic and positive about Southeast Asiaâs tech scene than Khailee Ng of VC firm 500 Global. I caught his talk at our conference in Jakarta last year, and his enthusiasm was not just infectious but also clearly backed by tangible reasons to be hopeful. Ng was also a speaker at our Kuala Lumpur conference last month, and todayâs featured piece dives into what he thinks Malaysia could do to shore up its tech ecosystem. Iâm certain youâll be pumped up and informed after reading through it. -- Peter
