Google pushes back against President Trump's claim of anti-conservative bias, Apple buys an augmented reality startup and Lego builds a life-sized, drivable Bugatti. Here's your Daily Crunch for August 30, 2018.
1. [Google denies Trumpâs claim that it did not promote his State of the Union address](
President Donald Trump continues to complain about Google's supposed bias. He posted a video that claims while the search engine promoted the State of the Union speeches of President Barack Obama, it did not do the same for Trump's speeches in 2017 or 2018.
However, Google said that's just not true: "On January 30, 2018, we highlighted the livestream of President Trumpâs State of the Union on the google.com homepage. We have historically not promoted the first address to Congress by a new President, which is technically not a State of the Union address. As a result, we didnât include a promotion on google.com for this address in either 2009 or 2017."
2. [Apple buys Denver startup building waveguide lenses for AR glasses](
The startup in question is Akonia Holographics, which manufactures augmented reality waveguide lenses. This acquisition offers the clearest confirmation yet that Apple is investing in technologies that support the development of a lightweight AR headset.
