The Central Bank of Nigeria, in a circular released yesterday, said [it will impose a N10,000 fine]( on any bank that fails to reverse any failed "inter-bank electronic transfer" into the customer’s account within 24 hours, should said customer or whoever they're sending money to make a complaint. on complaint of the sender and/or beneficiary. The fine will apply per item and goes into effect immediately. Now, while this may look like the CBN is looking out for Nigerians, let's not forget that these payment transaction issues aren't entirely the banks' fault. Low-end phones, quality of internet connectivity, and mobile network strength are some of the factors in play in each transaction. Something to think about.
Kaspersky Lab has released a [report]( the online behaviour of Nigerian kids [based on statistics]( from the company’s Parental Control modules. Social media and video content topped out interests with 35% and 29% of all activity, respectively.
South Africa-based Naspers is [spinning out its video entertainment business]( one company and listing it on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The resulting entity will be named Multichoice Group (made up of MultiChoice South Africa, MultiChoice Africa, Showmax Africa, and Irdeto) and Naspers will simultaneously "unbundle" the shares in this business to its shareholders. Everything is planned for the half of 2019.
Comsol and Samsung South Africa recently partnered to launch a pilot 5G network in Soweto, South Africa and the people at MyBroadband [tested the thing]( they got speeds of 140Mbps. I don't know about you but I'm ready for this 5G future.
