[View Web Version]( Woodpeckers Most Popular Square at the Best Price Anywhere. [Woodpeckers 1281 Precision Woodworking Square]( Success in the workshop depends on the care you put into machinery set up, the accuracy of your layout work and consistently checking your work during assembly. All three jobs call for an accurate, well-made square, and here is the one that established Woodpeckers as a premier manufacturer of woodworking squares, the 1281 Precision Woodworking Square. [The wide, stable base formed by adding the cheeks keeps the squares upright while checking assemblies.]( The core of the 1281 is a precisely machined square milled from cast and ground aluminum tool plate…the most stable aluminum in the world. The stability of the material and the methods we use to machine the core allow us to hold tolerance to ±.0085°…that’s within one thousandth of an inch at the far end of the 12-inch blade. [The lip keeps your square on the edge of your workpiece without an extra hand.]( To this highly accurate core, we add cheeks to make the base thicker. The cheeks are narrower than the core by a quarter-inch, forming a shoulder not found in traditional square designs. The shoulder allows the square to rest on the edge of a board without you holding on. This is one of the signature features of Woodpeckers squares, and one you’ll never understand how you lived without, once you’ve used it. To keep the shoulder from interfering with your layout work, we notched it in the corner, allowing you to mark all the way to the edge of your board. [The cheeks are held to the central core with stainless steel pins. The pins are pressed by skilled operators and each square is hand-checked against certified granite reference blocks.]( CNC-precision manufacturing is evident in how the cheeks join the core, too. Stainless steel pins are pressed through the three layers, ensuring perfect, rock solid alignment. [Finger slot provides a convenient grip when checking board ends.]( Sometimes during project assembly, it seems like you need just one more hand when you’re trying to hold things together and check them for square at the same time. That’s why you’ll find a slot in the blade of the 1281…slip your fingers through and you can still grip a board while holding the square. [Woodpeckers 1281 Precision Woodworking Square]( The scales on the blade are laser engraved to a tolerance of ±.004" total accumulated error over the length of the blade, in your choice of inch or metric graduations. [WATCH THE VIDEO! Woodpeckers 1281 Precision Woodworking Square]( We take great pride in the design and manufacturing of these squares. So much so that we will repair or replace your 1281 anytime you find it to be out of tolerance. No fine print, no disclaimers. If it’s not square, we’ll make it square or replace it.
