Letâs go back to about 400,000 years ago. Neanderthals emerged at this time. While they were not a direct descendant of humans, they had a lot of resemblances. Their tools were simple â rocks, bones, and sticks. And they also used fire. Then Cro-Mangons appeared between 25,000 and 100,000 years ago. (Thatâs us.) Cro-Mangons were physically inferior to Neanderthals, but there was one key difference that led to the downfall of the latter. Namely, Neanderthals were stagnant. There were little changes in the way they lived. They used same spears, same tools, same clothing of animal skins, same reliance on local game, and so on. There was little innovation in their existence. However, Cro-Magnon developed superior technologies such as archery. Many historians believe that Cro-Magnon eventually wiped out Neanderthals due to their technological advantages. Or take Native American empires. The downfall of two Native American empires, the Aztecs and the Incas, was far more complicated than just a technological advantage. (For example, diseases played a major role.) But there was little argument that Spanish conquerors (believed to be a small group of 200 or so) were able to conquer by using the innovation of steel weapons â such as armor, cannons, muskets, crossbows, etc. Whatâs the takeaway? Companies (and tribes) often go extinct due to technological shifts. Death could be imminent if they fail to adapt. The downfall of Kodak was swift after they missed the digital revolution. The rise of the internet put thousands of companies out of business. And we are witnessing a major technological shift that will have major implications on world power, wealth, and even the survival of some countries. Whatâs that technological shift? Artificial intelligence It could be like inventing guns in the world of bows and spears. James Stavridis, a retired US Navy admiral, wrote on Bloomberg that artificial intelligence could be as powerful as a nuclear weapon. He wrote: - ââ¦AI will allow decision makers to instantly surveille all military history and select the best path to a victory. Imagine an admiral who can simultaneously be afforded the advice of every successful predecessor from Lord Nelson at Trafalgar to Spruance at Midway to Sir Sandy Woodward at the Falklands?â
- âConversely, AI will also be able to accurately predict logistical and technological failure points. What if the Russians had been able to use AI to correct their glaring faults in logistics and vulnerability to drones in the early days of Ukraine war?â James also warned that it is happening at an accelerated pace. He pointed out that it took 200 years for gunpowder to reach its âlethal potential.â However, it took less than 40 years from the successful flight at Kitty Hawk to massive aerial bombing campaigns. So, he believes that AI will have a âdramatic military impact within a decade or sooner.â This is the metaphor of whatâs happening on Wall Street. Informational advantage is everything in investing. You profit when you anticipate something that others donât â thus getting into the position at an advantageous price. But the informational advantage is being opened and closed faster than ever. Thanks to machines, hedge funds like Citadel could make millions of dollars in profits by gaining an edge as quickly as a few seconds. Take this job opening from Citadel for a âWeather Analyst.â Letâs look at the job description that Citadel wrote: - âAs a Weather Analyst, your role will comprise applied research into atmospheric predictability, data analysis and visualization, operational weather prediction and communication of weather signals.â In other words, the analyst is responsible for analyzing future weather patterns. Why? This creates potential trading opportunities for the commodity team at Citadel. Then the team of data scientists will execute AI/ML experiments to turn it into an actionable trade. This is who you are trading against when you open the brokerage account every morning. You are not trading against your friends. Not at all. You are playing against Citadel with a massive technological advantage over you. So, this is the reason why TradeAlgo is building the new AI platform with the goal of giving retail investors a chance in the Stock Market 2.0. Whatâs this technology? Our team of engineers is leveraging AI/ML to scan through historical data, uncover patterns, and hopefully turn them into âsuper-intelligentâ trades. The ultimate mission is to create a platform that will trade automatically for retail investors. We believe this is the future of finance. For a limited time, you have an opportunity to own private shares in TradeAlgo before we launch the new AI platform. Meaning? You would own the upside in our company as a TradeAlgo investor. You can also claim bonus shares (as much as 20% of your total investment) when you meet certain thresholds.
