Below, we chat with Tyra aka [tyrathecreative]( a passionate pastry chef, actress, and podcaster hailing from St. Francisville, Louisiana. She edu-tains her audience with bakes that blend her Southern heritage with French finesse. *This interview has been edited for brevity. TASTEMADE: How do you define “Small Acts?” What are some ways you like to give back to the community? TYRA: I define “small acts” as the everyday gestures of kindness or generosity, the “because I could” or “don’t mention it” type of acts that could make an impact in someone’s life at little to no cost for myself! The main way I like to give back to my community is through recycling and living a more eco-conscious lifestyle. I am big on reducing my own waste and helping my community, and the earth as a whole in any way I can. I still have a long way to go on this journey, but I am proud of how far I’ve come! I also love to gift treats and desserts to my boxing gym friends. As a pastry chef, I bake A LOT, and someone has to enjoy these treats, so I frequently drop of little yummies for everyone to enjoy! Photo Cred: Koury Angelo How do you bring moments of love into your daily life? First, I ask myself what I need for the day. As a single girl living alone in L.A., self care and self love are HUGE! And so is community. I like to make sure I take time to see friends, pour into those relationships, go to the gym, build that camaraderie with fellow gym goers. When I’m home, I make sure I’m feeding myself well, spending time with God, and doing activities that bring me joy like gardening, puzzling, and baking.
