While serving as an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University, Jim Jordan turned a blind eye to sexual misconduct by the team's doctor, Richard Strauss. Under Jordan’s protection, Strauss’ abuse continued unimpaired for almost two decades and impacted an estimated close to 2,000 students and 170 wrestlers at that time. Dear {NAME} , In the post Me-Too era we’ve learned that abusers don’t act alone and that it's ultimately their enablers who allow them to continue to offend without consequence. It’s no surprise then that enablers like Ghislaine Maxwell, accomplice to Jeffrey Epstein and Coach Joe Paterno, who covered up Jerry Sandusky’s abuse at Penn State, both faced public scrutiny and legal repercussions for shielding predators. It’s time for Jim Jordan to be held accountable too. While it has fallen out of the news cycle and is rarely discussed in 2023, Jim Jordan is a member of that list of enablers. He’s Joe Paterno 2.0! While serving as an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University, Jim Jordan turned a blind eye to reports of sexual misconduct by the team's doctor, Richard Strauss. Under Jordan’s protection, Strauss’ abuse continued unimpaired for almost two decades and impacted an estimated 2,000 students; 170 of them were his wrestlers, many of whom he recruited and promised their parents he would “take care of them.” Despite Jordan’s stonewalling, dozens of survivors have come forward with their stories of telling Jordan about the abuse. Upon hearing these stories, the survivors describe Jordan responding dismissively and taking no action. He literally ran the other way, just like he does when union workers visit him in DC. Despite a massive outcry in 2020 over the revelations of Jim Jordan’s covering up of Doctor Strauss’ abuse he faced no real consequences. Instead he has continued his upward ascent and since the beginning of 2023 serves as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and was even pushed as a contender for Speaker of the House. As long as Congressman Jordan continues to accrue power within the GOP he will never face responsibility for his participation in the horrific system of abuse at Ohio State. And thanks to his position on the Judiciary Committee, he is now in a position to go to the mat for other GOP sexual predators like former President Donald Trump. In my professional life, I have personally worked with survivors of sexual, physical, mental and emotional abuse and I have worked with several organizations that help survivors. When I beat Jim Jordan, Ohio will have a representative who will be a fighter on the side of survivors. [{NAME} - Jim Jordan’s big money donors are unphased by his involvement in abuse and continue to help him raise millions of dollars each year - we need to keep pace with him if we are going to beat him.
