1. Want to start a business but have no idea what to launch? Read this {NAME}, look for businesses with a naturally high profit margin. That's the best type of business to start… and make sure it's something that doesn't require you to hold inventory. [Selling your knowledge]( is the business that I have found best fits that description. [Learn how to launch, build, and scale courses]( so you can do it for yourself, or you can partner with experts for a share of the profits. 2. Never watch the news! Here's why… [I posted this video]( a few days ago talking about why you should never watch the news. {NAME}, humans evolved in small tribes. You might have heard of "Dunbar's number". The British anthropologist, Robin Dunbar, found out that the ideal size of someone's social circle is about 150 people. The problem with the news, and with social media is that they expose you to such a big group of people, that your brain gets out of whack. When you open up a social media app, like Instagram, you're getting exposed to millions and millions of people… You're comparing yourself to millions of people. It's too big of a sample size. The news exposes you to problems and tragedies around the world. Problems and tragedies that you can't do anything about. As the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe famously said: "Let everyone sweep in front of his own door, and the whole world will be clean." This isn't about being a narcissist and only focusing on yourself. It means focus on what you can control, focus on what matters. You can best "sweep your own porch" because you understand all of the circumstances. People focus on what doesn't matter. What other people look like on social media doesn't matter. That war happening 6000 miles away? You probably can't do anything about that. Whatever drama is happening between celebrities is irrelevant to your life. Can you get your own food? Can you make money without needing a job? Can you close your own deals? Can you negotiate? Do you know how to maintain your health? Can you cook? Have you spoken to your parents lately? How are your kids doing? I could go on, but you get the point. Now, I mentioned war, and conflicts between countries. "Tai, shouldn't we intervene if we can? Shouldn't we boycott a war happening between two countries?" Yes, maybe. Look at the past 50 years of military conflicts. Whether it be in The Middle East, parts of Africa, Latin America, or Europe. When the US decided to step in, they probably made it worse, even though they meant best… And that last part is debatable. Sweep your front porch. Take care of your tribe of 150. In my opinion, if we reverted to our tribal roots of 150 people, we would take better care of each other. If our tribes knew how to grow their own food, build their houses, we probably wouldn't need welfare or food stamps. I'm not talking about self-sufficiency, I'm talking about "tribal sufficiency". One of my farms is in the middle of an Amish community that I lived in when I was 19 years old. The neighbors take care of each other in communities like that. The other day my well pump broke, and instead of hiring an expensive well repair service, my neighbor came over and helped me pull the well pump out using a Bobcat (a brand of heavy machinery. Think tractors and excavators). The day my neighbor needs help, I'll go over and help them out. Take care of your tribe. Sweep your own front porch. [Watch the full 20-minute video on Youtube](. 3. Religions have been around for thousands of years by doing this one thing. Copy them. Do you know why CrossFit as a brand wins, or why people would camp out of Apple stores in the winter when Steve Jobs was alive? It's why religions have been around for thousands of years. They all created a loyal following. Kevin Kelly, the founding editor of Wired magazine, calls this having 1000 true fans. Building a devoted following, cultivating a relationship with true fans is why sometimes creators with barely 10,000 followers on Instagram make more money than people with 500,000 followers. How do you get true fans? [I share different ways to do this in my Sell Your Knowledge test group]( but let me give you the strategy I like to use over and over. As with most things that make money, this concept is simple. Remember, simple things make money. Think in terms of testimonials. In other words, do things that get people results. One of the first things I ask myself when I'm going to launch something new is "will this create a testimonial?" Why do you want to think in terms of testimonials? 3 reasons: - You know that what you're teaching works, and it's helping people. That takes away the moral dilemma some people struggle with when it comes to selling stuff. - Testimonials are one of the most powerful marketing tools you can use. The effect of someone saying "I learned this from Bob and my life is better because…" is priceless. - People will start referring their friends to you. Remember to always ask yourself "will this create a testimonial?" You'll be surprised at how loyal a true fan can be. If you do this right, you're going to have a core group of people that will buy most things, if not every single thing you launch, and they will market your business for you… for FREE.
