[JRNU] In the immediate aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 94 children, aged six months to 17 years, fled their home in Zhytomyr, traveling through the Carpathian Mountains, and across the border to Romania. Days later, the children boarded a plane for Israel. Initially, the orphanage was hosted at the Nes Harim Field School in the Jerusalem hills. A few months later, more permanent accommodations were arranged in the town of Ashkelon, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. On October 7, 2023, the children once again found themselves in the midst of a war, as shrapnel rained down around them, landing in the front yard of their home. The Alumim orphanage residents were forced to seek safety again; they traveled to Kfar Chabad further away from the Gaza border. After a short stay, they returned to Ashkelon where they resumed their regular routine as much as possible, despite frequent sirens and other emergency alarms. # # # # We provide critical support to the children, whose parents are unable to care for them, due to financial hardship, addiction, or neglect. Your donation will make a difference, bringing joy and hope to kids who have endured so much. We pray for peace in Ukraine and in Israel, and we look forward to bringing the children of Zhytomyr back home. # # [Donate Now]( This email was sent to {EMAIL} [why did I get this?]( [unsubscribe from this list]( [update subscription preferences]( Tablet Magazine · P.O.
