Dear Reader, What does it mean to be a âfounderâ? Itâs a term thatâs been used and abused by Silicon Valley types in recent years, but, basically, it remains true to its Latin roots as a word for bottom or baseâlike the foundation of a building. To found something means to help build it from the ground up. We launched a membership program this year as a way to connect with readers in a deeper, more profound way. Weâve been calling those who joined âfounding members,â but at a certain point one has to draw a line between founders and just plain members. That line will be drawn tonight at midnight.
