[View Web Version]( [Sundance Institute Logo]( Dear Sundance Community, Today, we celebrate Trans Day of Visibility and conclude a week of programming in support of trans artists. We have a responsibility to amplify and support transgender voices and stories, and during this time of pervasive anti-trans sentiment, propaganda, legislation, and violence it is even more essential to center the voices and stories of trans people. [Join us in supporting this work](. As a mission-driven nonprofit, we work year-round to support underrepresented voices in film and media, and for four decades we have stood with independent storytellers, elevating the voices of artists from a wide range of experiences and diverse backgrounds. When I first started at Sundance, I was moved by the extraordinary commitment my colleagues have toward supporting artists, and it allowed me to dream and design how that support can be amplified and leveraged toward our most marginalized. Having just produced our second Trans Possibilities Intensive, I can tell you how essential it is to have spaces like the one we created this week. Spaces where artists can enter as their full selves and focus on furthering their craft and community. These [6 artists]( through this week's Intensive will always have a home at Sundance. My radical existence is my art – Aitch Alberto During the week, I had a conversation about representation with writer-director Aitch Alberto, who said “My radical existence is my art.” It is how Aitch and each of the artists we support let the world know who they are. The Intensive, the conversation, and our year-round work is what supporting and centering trans people looks and feels like at Sundance Institute. As champions of preserving artistic expression, we know that supporting authentic voices yields the ability to broaden our minds: engage, provoke, inspire, and ultimately, connect us. It is essential work that we proudly undertake. [Donate to Sundance now]( to support trans voices in film and help Sundance continue to foster a place for trans artists to cultivate their artistic craft, build community, and celebrate their joy. Through film — and with the generosity of supporters like you — we can transform the way people see the world and allow trans people to live freely, fully, and fearlessly.
