Lyft drivers are using safety tools to suspend and harass Black passengers, and the company is doing nothing about it! Let’s join together and force them to clean their cars of racism. [ Sign the petitionÂ]( {NAME}, My friend just told me the worst story: there's an epidemic of Lyft and Uber drivers reporting people for not wearing masks just so that they don't have to pick up Black, Brown and LGBTQ+ customers. Then, those customers are losing their accounts even though they wore a mask the whole time! Some drivers are basically using a feature that is supposed to protect them from covid to help them be racist towards everyone else. It's disgusting. And worse, Lyft and Uber aren't stepping in to solve the problem, even though experts say it's not hard to quickly verify driver reports as they happen. Let's call on ride share companies to clean their cars of racism before another person's account is unfairly suspended. [Tell Uber and Lyft: clean up your cars of racism.]( There’s even reports of this happening the other way round: Black and Brown drivers getting reported for not wearing masks (when they clearly are) so that white riders can avoid using them without cancellation fees. It just shows that the whole feature is a mess of prejudice and abuse. It may not be fair to expect the companies to have predicted this atrocious behavior, but now that it’s being reported everywhere, even in the news, they still aren’t doing anything about it. A simple verify option where riders and drivers can show their mask in the moment would solve this problem right away, but it means spending money and time to create it. That’s where our community comes in! [Act now to force Lyft and Uber to clean their cars of racism!]( This is one of those horrible situations that can have wide-ranging effects on the lives of millions of people, and never ever get solved because it never makes it into the mainstream media. But one massive outcry from us could solve the problem and make sure all ride share users are safe from this kind of harassment and discrimination.
