You have to stand guard at the door of your mind. Hey {NAME}, Jim Rohn was an American business

You have to stand guard at the door of your mind. [Alternate text] Hey {NAME},  Jim Rohn was an American businessman, a self-made millionaire before turning 31, an author and motivational speaker, and even Tony Robbins’ personal mentor.  Here at SUCCESS, we like to refer to him as the godfather of personal development. He truly was the pioneer who created some of the greatest minds in personal growth and motivation, who we all know today.  He was also a major believer in the power of habit... but not the typical performance habits that most people work so hard to adopt.  Jim Rohn believed that naturally, everyone has pretty good habits around working and performance.   So why is it that stronger, better, higher performance is still the thing we’re all so desperate to achieve?!  Everyone wants to perform better and get more done each day so they can make more money, live a happier life, save for their retirement, take a vacation next year… you name it.  But all of the experts out there teaching the habits of performance are actually just treating the symptoms and not the root cause.  How many times have you felt like... if you were able to give your personal life the same amount of time and effort that you give your job, you’d be a much happier and more successful person?  How many times have you read a book, implemented some of the teachings in your life and saw great results… only for that productivity to fade after a week or two?  Performance habits are not the problem, because most people perform better than they give themselves credit for.  So, if it’s not high performance habits that I need to be focused on, what is it?  Jim Rohn believed that “Poor thinking habits keep most people poor.”  You see, it’s actually our thinking - not our doing - that keeps us stuck.  What does that mean exactly?  Well, consider this... How many times have you started your morning catching up on the latest news (especially recently)?  Loading your mind with wars and riots and murders and politics and car wrecks and tragedies… Then starting your day...  Can you imagine the kind of impact that has on the rest of your day? On your overall quality of life - both personal and professional?  Jim Rohn says the recipe for living “the good life” is simple.  “You select the right ingredients... keep out the wrong ingredients… and it all starts with thought.”  Here’s how he explains it… What would happen if somebody dropped sugar in your coffee?  You’d probably be alright, right?  Well, what if somebody dropped strychnine in your coffee?  Well, then you’d probably be dead.  That’s Lesson 1: life is both sugar and strychnine. You must be careful.  And what would happen if your worst enemy dropped sugar in your coffee?  You’d still be okay, right?  But, what if even by accident, your best friend drops in the strychnine?  Sadly, you’d still be dead.  And that is Lesson 2: watch your coffee.  You have to be careful because it doesn’t matter who hands you the bad stuff.  It doesn’t matter where the bad stuff comes from, it’ll still do its damage to your money, your life, that future vacation… you name it.  You have to stand guard at the door of your mind.  You get to decide what goes into your thoughts.  “Nourish the mind like you would your body. The mind cannot survive on junk food.” — Jim Rohn  Here’s a quick exercise to help you take back your time and become the guardian of your thoughts.  This week, trade in unproductive activities (watching the news, checking social media, wasting time on your phone) for productive learning or mindfulness activities that will add to your knowledge or life skills.  Complete this sentence in as many different ways as you can to establish new productive daily habits.  I traded ____ hours of _________________ for ____ hours of ____________________ .  EXAMPLE: I traded 2 hours of watching television for 2 hours of reading a personal development book.  And if you want to take it a step further, write this down on a piece of paper and share it with 3 people that will hold you accountable.  Then, make these changes daily to begin establishing new productive habits!  We have more timeless wisdom just like this coming your way over the next couple of days, so stay tuned to your inbox.  (And if you know anyone who needs to hear this today, please don’t hesitate to forward this email to them.)  To better thoughts and a better life,  The SUCCESS Magazine team  P.S. - Later this week, the Jim Rohn team will grant access to the entire vault of Jim Rohn’s training just for you! The exact same training and teaching that inspired and created some of the greatest minds in personal development including Tony Robbins, Les Brown, John C. Maxwell, Darren Hardy and many, many more.  [Click here to get on the interest list and be the first to know all of the details!](     This email was sent to {EMAIL} by inside@success.com 5800 Democracy Dr. Plano, Texas, 75024 USA Follow this link if you want to UNSUBCRIBE: [Manage Subscriptions]( Â
