It’s selfish to be unhappy with a perfectly good job / complain too much / not be grateful for what you’ve got / chase after a pipedream / make rash decisions that affect everyone, not just you. It’s selfish to want ‘excessive’ amounts of money / to care about superficial things / to need more than everyone else / to shove it in people’s faces / to be greedy and materialistic. It’s selfish to think that you deserve any of that without doing it the absolute most hardest way. It’s got to feel bad, in order for you to “earn” it. It’s got to feel like a slog. It’s got to feel like punishment every day. Maybe then you won’t feel so guilty. Right??????? This is how we were taught to think, even if it wasn’t on purpose. As a result, we make poor decisions when it comes to our own wealth & happiness. We martyr ourselves in the name of being “good.” And modest. And someone who “doesn’t need much.” So we don’t “rock any boats.” We stay small because nobody’s out there telling us what our options are, and that actually, life will be AWESOME if we figure out how what we’re actually passionate about and then GO DO THAT THING. And, most tragically, we earn far less than our real earning power, because we were never taught how to “do” money. And we certainly weren’t taught how to “do money” in today’s modern economy. (Hint: there are way different ways to earn an income now than there were twenty years ago, and there are way different ways to earn a high income while working remotely from anywhere in the world—all of which have superseded some of society’s traditionally highest-earning careers, like doctors.) In the last fourteen years, I’ve been flipping that script on its head. - I work 100% remotely as a writer - I travel perpetually around the globe - I buy properties and fix them up as a hobby (okay, fine, I AM LEARNING—this week I learned how to hard-wire sconces, lol, save us all) - I’ve earned millions of feel-good dollars from my work - And, I’ve done it all without caring about social media, or TikTok, or kissing a**, or using so many of the standard online business tactics that make me vomit-ey. (That make us ALL vomit-ey.) I call this: The Selfish Method. It’s how I built a remote business (businesses!) that’s taken me around the world, using nothing more than my passions, while doing all the stuff I love, and none of the stuff I don’t. It’s not for everyone. Like if you want to cling to old ideas about how to earn a living while forever wondering what life could have been like if you’d just taken that chance on yourself. But, it is for you if you want to live a big, rich, meaningful life, full of adventure and ideas and doing work you love. It is for you if you want to take yourself to Italy, France, a chic cottage in Nantucket to write for a month. It is for you if you want to work spacious, leisurely half days while renovating an old farmhouse in the Pennsylvania countryside. It is for you if you want to do really good work that feels good to do before refinishing an old bureau in the backyard. And it is for you if you want to finally find yourself again—wide-eyed, fulfilled, well-traveled, happy…and with damn good money in the bank. My signature course, Selfish School, teaches you how I’ve done all of that—and how you can, too. There are four goals: - Earn a 6-figure salary from anywhere in the world - Work 50% of the traditional work day - Travel 500% more than the average professional (3+ months a year) - And do it all with ease & joy It’s a new way to start an online business without soul-sucking social media, constant content creation, group coaching communities, or other pressures associated with traditional online business models—all while working toward a target income of 6+ figures annually, working 50% less, and having plenty of time left over in the day for pleasure, traveling to places like the French Riviera or London’s Mayfair, staying in design-forward Airbnbs and boutique hotels, favoring exciting gastronomy and a bon vivant lifestyle, seeking out unique and authentic experiences, having plenty of space in your day to pursue art, pleasure, purpose, and redefining what it means to be a modern professional who can work and live from anywhere in the world. This is the future of the way we live and work. And, it’s an all-new era. Join me, Ash, and let’s do good work, from beautiful places around the world, renovating old farmhouses (I swear the sconces look good), and living the kind of life our ancestors could have only dreamed about.
