The Biden administration is taking a more assertive stance towards mainstream media outlets covering the Republican impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden's past actions and statements during his tenure in office. They have issued a letter from their legal counsel, urging news organizations to intensify their scrutiny of what they perceive as the GOP's "falsehoods." Ian Sams, a special assistant to the president and senior advisor to the White House Counsel's Office, has authored a letter intended for delivery to outlets such as the New York Times, Associated Press, CNN, and others. This letter comes one day after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced the initiation of an impeachment inquiry. McCarthy (R-CA) referenced evidence suggesting that, during his time as vice president, Biden allegedly sought favors for overseas business associates of his son Hunter. Hunter Biden is currently in discussions with federal prosecutors regarding a potential plea deal related to tax fraud stemming from his business dealings. President Biden has vehemently denied any knowledge or involvement in these matters, despite claims from whistleblowers like Devon Archer, Hunter's long-time business partner, who assert that Biden made significant efforts to appease businessmen who enriched his son with lucrative contracts. In the letter, Sams emphasized, "It is now time for the media to increase their scrutiny of House Republicans who have initiated an impeachment inquiry based on false claims," and argued that this impeachment inquiry should be a cause for concern among news organizations. Sams wrote, "Reporting on impeachment as a procedural matter – with Republicans asserting X, while the White House maintains Y – is a disservice to the American public, who rely on independent journalism to hold those in power accountable." He continued, "In today's media landscape, where misinformation and falsehoods are propagated daily, from Facebook to Fox, procedural reporting that fails to dissect the legitimacy of the assertions upon which House Republicans are basing their actions only contributes to confusion, disseminates incorrect premises, and obscures the truth." Efforts led by prominent GOP figures like House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) have indicated that President Biden participated in numerous meetings with individuals who paid substantial sums to members of his family to gain access to the corridors of power in Washington. One such company, Burisma Energy in Ukraine, benefited from Biden's intervention in the removal of a local prosecutor investigating corruption within the company. The prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, has since alleged that then-Vice President Biden was behind this maneuver. Additional credible evidence includes correspondence between Hunter Biden and officials from the Biden Office of the Vice Presidency regarding the coordination of statements to the media following reports of federal investigations into Hunter's business practices. Rep. Comer has called for the National Archives to provide all documents related to multiple burner accounts used by President Biden for these communications. NEW: Biden SLAMMED Obama In An Unearthed Email The ongoing release of provocative information retrieved from Hunter Biden's laptop continued on Wednesday, revealing Joe Biden's discontent during his vice presidency when he believed that his then-superior, President Barack Obama, had borrowed portions of a speech Biden delivered in 2008. In a correspondence dated September 2010 with his son Hunter, then-Vice President Biden expressed his thoughts on a recent speech delivered by President Obama at a pro-union labor rally. Biden perceived that the speech contained phrases that closely resembled those he had used in an August 2008 speech when he accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for vice president...
